When my husband  and I contemplated a move from Southwest Florida, we did our homework. We traveled in three states over three summers with our "punch list" of required attributes for our future living requirements.  Hendersonville, other than not having an adequate lake, met those requirements.  We fell in love with the quaint village and held great admiration for the small town that had managed to accomplish the impossible, a downtown full of business and thriving with limited parking and well-planned accouterments.

Seven years ago we moved here and bought commercial property that was badly in need of renovation and set to work. Opening first Buttercup Alley, a floral, gift and antique shop followed two years of remodeling.  Later, changing our focus we opened  Mountain Pie Company. Through interactions with the warm, friendly customers, I increasingly became aware of the magnificent talent living Henderson County.

These pages are an effort to showcase some of the exceptional women of Henderson County. They were not chosen for their beauty or for their age. They were chosen for their drive, their outlook on life, their accomplishments, many in the face of adversity. They were chosen for their inner light, desire to serve, their ourgoing personalities, helpful attitudes and intelligence. The residents of this county must acknowledge the people who drive it toward the future. It is our delight to present a few of the Outstanding Women of Henderson County.

People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in,
their true beauty is revealed
only if there is a light from within.
~ Elizabeth Kübler-Ross ~
If there were ever a time
to dare to make a difference,
to embark on something worth doing,
it is now.
Not for any grand cause, necessarily,
but for something that tugs at your heart,
something that's your aspiration,
something that's your dream.
You owe it to yourself
to make your days here count.
Have fun.
Dig deep.
Stretch.
Dream Big.
"There are those who travel and those who are going somewhere... successful people have this over their rivals, they know where they are going.”
Cheryl Isacc,  Woman Entrepreneur magazine
"If I feel depressed I will sing. If I feel sad I will laugh. If I feel ill I will double my labor. If I feel fear I will plunge ahead. If I feel inferior I will wear new garments. If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice. If I feel poverty I will think of wealth to come. If I feel incompetent I will think of past success. If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals. Today I will be the master of my emotions."
Og Mandino
If there is light in the soul, there will be beauty in the person.

"The woman who follows the crowd will usually get no further than the crowd. The woman who walks alone is likely to find herself in places no one has ever been before."                                           Albert Einstein
