Lue Kirchner
Luellen (Lue) Kirchner is the founder and owner of Key Associates, a senior services company located in Flat Rock.  Lue brings to Key Associates over 25 years of management and executive management experience.  After many years as the executive director of a national consulting firm, in 2005 Lue and her husband Bob made Western North Carolina their full-time residence.  Not long after moving to the area, she decided to put her skills to work helping seniors and others in need while doing the things she loved.   She earned her "CRTS" designation as a Certified Residential Transition Specialist in 2007 and went back to school to hone her long-time design and staging skills.  With her trusted associates, Lue now heads up efforts at   
Key Associates offers a wide range of support services for seniors and those with special needs.  They provide complete move management and downsizing services, they prepare and stage homes to compete favorably in today's market and they offer age-in-place solutions to help those who wish to remain in their homes.   The company is dedicated to providing seniors and those facing special needs the physical, practical and emotional support they require to get to where they need to be to live comfortably - - whether that means adapting their homes to age-in-place safely or moving on to retirement or assisted living communities.

What inspired you to do what you do? 
First-hand knowledge of the need for and benefit of our services - - and the desire to help meet those needs while doing the things I love.  (Also, not wanting to wear dark suits with high heels and sit behind a desk all day!)

What are some of your valuable memories?
Sitting around the table and laughing with my family, working with my mother in her garden, a certain trip to France, a long-ago trip to St. Kitts, my grandmother Helen’s molasses cookies and my grandpa Merrill’s hugs.

What do you do for fun?
Laugh with my girlfriends, garden, read, view and study great architecture and shop for my design clients.

What is something I cannot live without?
Extra-dark chocolate - - seriously!

Learn to share your love while maintaining your independence.

Things I’m proudest of:
My family, my company and the work we do, my work ethic.

Dependable (Yah, yah, I know - - boring!)

The one I face . . .

First Job:
Assistant counselor at a summer day camp - - great fun!

Favorite Book:
There are so many - - I love books on architecture.  As for novels one that comes to mind is The Secret Life of Bees

Biggest Pet Peeve:
Intolerance

How can Henderson County better help small business?
We who live here make up Henderson County, so I see it not as how the County can help us, but how we all share a responsibility to work together for improvement.
